10.11.12 | takes a few seconds to build up to it but when it hits you'll know what I'm talkin bout
make sure that volume capacity is on full blast |
CaptainDooRight
10.11.12 | and fuk for being acoustic it's heavy as fuck |
mindleviticus
10.11.12 | holy cow. those vox |
Ethics
10.11.12 | yea that bitch hit me real good,
ty doodoo |
CaptainDooRight
10.11.12 | it's so intense I just can't keep it bottled up inside |
wacknizzle
10.11.12 | Fuck yeah that riff is sweet. Those super dark kind of chord progressions are awesome, I try to come up with stuff like that on acoustic guitar. |
CaptainDooRight
10.11.12 | that riff is so good I just wish they wrote an hour long drone song with just that riff repeating over and over again, fuk im in love and inspired
it's crazy how just one riff can change your entire life |
Scoot
10.11.12 | best riff is at the beginning of where the night by aspid |
CaptainDooRight
10.11.12 | and yea def those vox are pefectly matched
@ wack - fuk yea bro, you should record them |
menawati
10.11.12 | dat is a mighty fine riff |
AngelofDeath
10.11.12 | Ulver is the pretty much the best band ever, but there are way better riffs on Nattens. Best riff ever is probs the one in Drudkh's Wind of the Night Forests. |
HitlerIsTheBest
10.11.12 | i didnt find that one to be all that impressive. the vocals are cool though. i actually like the opening riff better. |
KILL
10.11.12 | sweet riffs and hell yea scoot
but my fav riff is that one riff in lack of comprehension you know the one ;) |
CaptainDooRight
10.11.12 | @angel - if you have the minute and second on the riff you're referring to, I'd love to check it out
@ Scoot - that is a def a solid riff bro
@ kill - yeah any death riff rips, but when i weight out emotional weight, this riff is just toooooooooo amazing, its feels like truth in my heart |
foxblood
10.11.12 | pagan fears prob has my favorite riff ever. wind of the night forests is amazing too |
seedofnothing
10.11.12 | i'd prolly have to agree that riff is mighty, you should just write a song covering that riff for like 20 minutes, building off dynamics
maybe even use some of the transistional riffs here but sparingly like 10% |
CaptainDooRight
10.11.12 | "there are way better riffs on Nattens"
overall absolutely, this is just one of those instances where this one single riff moved me in ways that i can't describe |
CaptainDooRight
10.11.12 | @ fox - hey bro, long time no see
@ seed - haha I just may
@ aod - listening to Wind of the Night Forests right now, tryin to see which riff you're referring to |
AngelofDeath
10.11.12 | "@angel - if you have the minute and second on the riff you're referring to, I'd love to check it out"
Actually, all the riffs in that song are pretty much the best riffs ever. And most of the riffs on Autumn Aurora and Estrangement. |
CaptainDooRight
10.11.12 | Yeah I have both those albums
And I agree they are very good/awesome riffs and fit the song as a whole perfectly, and as a song they are stronger than this song but riff for riff, being the single most strongest riff I still feel this one is miles ahead of any one single Drudkh riff. the dynamics here are just perfect, everything about the riff is the best thing ever. what would be the longest length youd put up with that riff repeating itself. I honestly would do like an hour or two with lots of weed and cold rainy weather. |
SlMBOLlC
10.11.12 | Riff is pretty sweet, but I could name 10 maiden songs right now with (IMO) better riffs.
Cheers tho dood |
evilford
10.11.12 | cool cap, will have to check later, at work right now
favorite riffs I can think of, probably a tie. the verse riff in Perennial Quest, and the riff at the end of Furthest From the Truth by Immolation. there are so many tho, agh. and honestly, Neurosis and ISIS prob have some I would throw in there, maybe Meshuggah too. I'm staying with those two tied for now.^^ |
menawati
10.11.12 | tbh most riffs all been done, very seldom hear anything new |
TheNotrap
10.11.12 | It's nice but but in my humble opinion Metallica did it better. Battery's intro. |
evilford
10.11.12 | hell yeah notrap that riff rules |
CaptainDooRight
10.11.12 | cheers bros
@ evil - yup i have many too bro, fuk it im gonna def do a song, i may even sample some stuff from here
@ menawait - yup recycled riffs suck hard, we as humans should be trying to further ourselves, not in technical ability, but in emotion and whatever that calls for
@ notrap - i've always loved that riff too bro |
TheNotrap
10.11.12 | Cheers bro.
|
SpiritCrusher2

Sapientlife
10.11.12 | the opening riff from Tool's "Aenema" kills shit. so simple yet so powerful |
Geadom
10.11.12 | http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AA6LqVfjMcg This is how a DM riff should sound, agressive, wicked, yet infectious, viral. |
EyesWideShut
10.11.12 | Eyehategod and Down got some killer riffs. Morbid Angel and Discharge own too. But I think my fav would be Left Hand Path by Entombed |
CaptainDooRight
10.11.12 | @ Crysis - for sure, I'm gonna try to learn it by ear. but yeah man it's hard and I'd have to say out of literally out of the thousands of riffs i've ever heard this prolly sits within top 30, i was just stoked about it so much i had to make this list, keeps my brain neurons firing
@ Viper - agreed camel reaks of tuff riffs
@ ford - hell yee
Also I think my current mood has influence my current love for this song and riff because I this enormous craving for dark depressing yet heavy atmospheric tits, so I uploaded like 30 albums last night on my ipod of some of fav doom, some folk, bm, ect. that I've had for years, I'll make a list with everything on my ipod |

CaptainDooRight
10.11.12 | try: vali, ulver, tenhi, october falls, empyrium
