Saw Defeater Last Night
...and they were fucking awesome. Tiny venue; great energy, and Derek did the entire set with a broken ankle. Semi-electric version of But Breathing was definitely a highlight. But fuck I can't stand hardcore fans any more. Probably the last show I'll go to in a long time.
Star Showers on the Euphrates
Yeah man, I went Thursday night, it was fucking awesome. I loved the full band playing But Breathing. I've seen them once already, but holy shit do they rule. Derek's a beast.
yeah such a good band live, saw them with la dispute last may
gay band yea

explain pls :O
I was at the aa gig during the day (so that I could see High on Fire at night), so so much better this year than last year. Totally different concert experience, possibly because they were headlining properly this time around.
I'm not sure why you hate hardcore kids though? They're hardly much different than most, maybe more likely to jump on you
blessed burden live makes me lose my shit. their set is good otherwise but that's always the standout
I want to see them so bad. Something always comes up where I have to miss it. Theyre playing close to me soon and I have a class till 840 pm that day i'm pissed. And I agree blessed burden is their best.
OH MAN I was at the Friday all ages show in a fucking church and the electric version of But Breathing killed. Broken ankle Derek was pretty awesome with his swag cane. Blacklisted ruled too but they didn't really get into it because the kids didn't give that much a fuck since most of them came to see Defeater.
Picked up some rare vinyl fairly cheap too. Blue "Lost Ground" double 7", double LP of "Empty Days" in clay colour and a #/150 Blacklisted tour 45.
Ehh, I'm just tired of the whole windmilling thing. I don't mind it if they clear a space beforehand, but I got hit a fair few times by windmillers who just started swinging without any regard for anything, and I was over leaning on the bar, nowhere near the centre of the pit. That, and after Derek repeatedly asked people not to fuck with him cause of his ankle, a few douchebags decided they'd try and pull him into the crowd or tackle him onstage. And meh, usually I can let stuff slide, but maybe I'm becoming less tolerant in my old age.
I didn't really get into Blacklisted. I'd never heard any of their stuff before, and the sound on Saturday was so distorted and grating I still don't think I really have. All I could hear was a guitar that sounded like a buzzsaw. But their fans seemed to like it.
And yeah, I only picked up a shirt, but was so close to buying EDASN on vinyl.
And I bought my tickets before HoF was announced. Sadface. I wanted to see them too.
Ahh yeah fair enough, they were probably drunk at the 18s gig, much better behaved earlier when no alcohol was allowed. Well, they were still pretty violent during Blacklisted but no one fucked with Derek at least. And I loved Blacklisted, I was right next to the stack so it was pretty buzzsawish but I still loved it. Loudest band I've ever heard though.
As for HoF...well the support act was unbelievably bad, but HoF was pretty good. A little overlong for what the music is, but made more enjoyable for me at least by a drunk guy dancing completely out of time, seemingly to totally different music.
I saw Defeater last month and got headbutted in the face, pushing my lip into my teeth and slicing my lip open. It was pretty sweet.
