I also know people who want to "make a difference" and "do good" in the world. I know a girl who wants to get married before 30. Then there are the stay-at-home mums. Most people actually lose their idea of "purpose" in life because they are too busy trying to earn enough to cover rent and pay off debt.
And day time television/reality tv is the fag end of all of that.
