FadeToBlack 09.03.12	It's the little tweaks and improvements that make Echoes my favourite of the three prime games, like the much improved logbook, better weapons, adding the ability to boost off spider ball tracks etc. All three are incredibly close though

XingKing 09.03.12	Of course. I'd say Zero > Super > Fusion > Prime > Prime 2 > Hunters > Other M > Pinball > Metroid II > Metroid. I've never played Prime 3 so I can't comment on that. And it's pretty obvious I prefer the 2d games.

pwalcher 09.03.12	Iunno what it is about dark samus, bitch doesn't say anything but I just love her as a villain. When they introduced her in the second metroid prime I was in love. (Yes, I'm aware she's a reincarnation of the metroid prime final boss of the first game) Prime 3's story was kinda meh, but holy shit were the wii controls sexy. It felt awesome playing through that game, so glad they re-did the other two with wii controls.

Crymsonblaze 09.03.12	I don't like the Prime series (I hate pretty much all FPS's) but Zero Mission/original is great. Super Metroid and Fusion are both great from what I've played of them.
Gyromania 09.03.12	it took me a while to realize i liked echoes more than the first prime, and really it only just edges out prime. the cast of enemies is perfect, and i love the light/dark beams/worlds. other m is a serious hiccup in the metroid catalog though

XingKing 09.03.12	If he hates FPS games, he most likely wouldn't like Prime anyway. The focus is exploration but it still uses the mechanics of other shooters when the combat comes into play.
Gyromania 09.03.12	it has an auto-lock system, and it encourages the use of many other forms of attack. it's much more of an adventure game than it is a typical shooter imo, and much of the emphasis is placed on scanning and lore.

"the wii controls really are amazing, but I'm still completely fine playing the first two with the GC controller" the wii controls are surprisingly responsive (most of the time), but i prefer the gc controller.
Masochist 09.03.12	Metroid Prime was the first Metroid game I ever played, and it really helped change my view on what a video game to do for me. I rank it #1, and one of the best games to ever come out on Gamecube (certainly top 2 for console exclusives). Also, you forgot Hunters. Probably for good reason.

FadeToBlack 09.03.12	I didn't think it was THAT bad. The story was pretty silly but the gameplay had some good ideas, and it picked up towards the end. Still a low point for the series though (not including Hunters) And yeah I've read your review for that gyro, best game soundtrack ever

Gyromania 09.03.12	use a player's guide? admittedly the one thing i cannot stand about the series is the fetch-quests. i remember searching tirelessly for those damn keys in metroid prime. ugh
FadeToBlack 09.03.12	yeah exploration and back-tracking are key elements in most Metroid games, so if you don't really like that then it's fair to say you probably won't enjoy them. Fusion and Corruption are fairly linear though, so you might want to try them if you haven't already
Madbutcher3 09.04.12	Prime Pinball is actually quite fun. Obviously not super deep but it's better than Other M (which has a godawful story and really dull gameplay; only upsides were the bosses really). As many people might say, if you like Super Metroid some of the Castlevania series is worth a shot since it's similar in style. As for Echoes and the first Prime game I find them about equal. Echoes has some fantastic bosses and environments (I mean damn dat fortress) but has slightly iffy level design while Prime nailed it in terms of the overall gameplay. Corruption has the best environments but the atmosphere got kinda killed by the side characters and rather formulaic structure.
Geadom 09.12.12	Prime 1 is better than 2, IMO. Otherwise, great list.
