08.06.12 | I'm kinda in the same situation. I would say the most important piece for the whole writing process is "recording to pc" gear. I bought myself the simplest piece there is, a Behringer adapter to plug the guitar and them downloaded a few softwares. That helped a lot, now I'm able to write full songs and keep everything organized.
Other than that, I would go for the bass. |
ChuckyTruant
08.06.12 | Hmm yeah, it may be the bass, that might be the most fun too haha |
blackzombie
08.06.12 | buy an ibanez RGA, you won't regret it. everyone who touches it says it's so light and easy to play |
auberginedreams

08.06.12 | i would say get a new bass if your parents comp is always available

also what are you going to use for laying tracks down and mixing? |
auberginedreams
08.06.12 | yeah they're really versatile, they sound great playing soft stuff and heavy stuff. only problem is they're super heavy, something i didn't realize at first. |
auberginedreams
08.06.12 | i need to get a bass too, i have a bunch of songs i've written that need bass parts. |
CaptainDooRight

08.06.12 | i use sony acid 7 and it works great for me, t'was like 70 bucks
also many users here use audacity which they say is a free program. I had a friend back in the days who used that as well, i personally am not experienced with audacity |
CaptainDooRight
08.06.12 | also I have an ibanez as well, rg370dx |
CaptainDooRight

ChuckyTruant
08.06.12 | oh yeah and my guess for the price of the ux2 was the ux2 and some recording software which i guessed might be around 100 so I added that |
jdennis31
08.06.12 | rga's are pretty expensive. not sure what your budget for bass was, but i got this for sale at 200 and
it's amazing for the price. think list price might be like 230-250?

"oh yeah and my guess for the price of the ux2 was the ux2 and some recording software which i guessed might be around 100 so I added that"
oh ok that makes sense, let us know what recording software you choose to go with, also what type of music are you gonna be making? and is it just a one man project? |
ChuckyTruant

ChuckyTruant
08.06.12 | Probs get*

Trebor17
08.06.12 | guitar model is less important than pickups and pickups are less important than amp model and a medium quality mic should set you straight
|
Trebor17
08.06.12 | also just get a squire starter bass and you don't even really need a bass amp if it's just for writing and demoing
|
ChuckyTruant
08.06.12 | True. But I want something decent and that will hold its value at least a little bit. I think I'll get a SR375m |
bloc
08.06.12 | An Axe FX will solve everything |
ChuckyTruant
08.06.12 | Hahaha |
