It looks like a post apocalyptic wasteland with all the craggy volcanic rock and you get extremely flat expanses of land with suddenly high mountains in the distance. On the 3rd day we stood in the glacial valley which was flooded when that volcano erupted a couple of years ago. We were on this hill that had been erupted out leaving a 150-200m bump which was was literally the only elevated thing for miles. And there was a braided river flowing from a glacier (it's actually scary how fast it's melting) all the way to the sea across this immense plain. Fucking amazing. |

The first two nights we stayed in a hotel in Rekjavik. 3 people per room. It was ok, but I think you have to pay extra for breakfast (not sure, I think we'd already paid for that via the school) and for duvets, so we slept in sleeping bags on the beds. On the 3rd night we stayed in a camping site in cabins in that valley I was talking about. Pretty quaint. Had duvets that time. It was a buffet every breakfast and dinner at both places. There were 30 of us though, so things might be a little different if you're going in a small group.
Oh and in the summer it never gets dark. The sun sets but it gets light again before it ever gets black. Reykjavik as a city is a bit dull imo as well.

It's really unlike anywhere I've been to before, although on the 2nd day it was extremely sunny and it made me think of what Ecuador might look like when I go there in a fortnight, with the barren volcanic landscape. |

Nah, but they're pretty crazy about football. Honestly, if they had a large population they'd be world class.

Yeah we did that on the first day. The whole place is surrounded by craggy volcanic rock and the lagoon is really really warm. In some places it even crosses into uncomfortable temperatures but generally it feels soooo nice.
And yeah I have shitloads of pictures although they're only from a digital camera. Don't know where I'd upload them to.
