Aok's Digs

The songs I've scrobbled most in the past 3 months. If you haven't heard any of these gems, I highly recommend them
So Easy -- dedicated to Liberi Fatali
(cause of the logo man). No but seriously, tihs one's awesome
Made You Look -- he lost a lot of consistency
after Illmatic, but so many of his tracks have been and will continue to be in your
face excellent. This as much as any other
13NY State of Mind -- still probably my favorite hip-
hop track ever.
12Burial, Four Tet and Thom Yorke
Ego -- While most people would prefer
Burial to work alone (and Kindred was certainly an amazing LP), I'd be stoked to
hear him collaborate more. This track, as well as Moth, are 2 of the best things
Bevan has ever done imo.
11James Zabiela
Perseverance (Beatless Repress) -- even though it lacks the
absolutely gorgeous simplicity of the beatless repress, any version of this song is
incredible. James Zabiela is a force to be reckoned with.
10Pretty Lights
Finally Moving -- Using that same guitar tone
from 'You Wish' and transforming it into something new and different and gorgeous.
Pretty Lights are some of the best in the business right now.
Nomad -- melt away. A lot of music
seems to be heading in a direction similar to this, and I'm quite ok with that.
8Schoolboy Q
Oxy Music - Black Hippy / TDE has clearly
sucked me in all the way. As much as Q isn't someone I would normally listen to, I
find myself putting his stuff on all the time.
7Kendrick Lamar
ADHD -- 'Got a high tolerance when
your age don't exist' . When he's on, he flows better than any rapper under the
age of 30. While he's still working out how to be a showman while performing live,
he's already got at least one classic track to his name.
6Nightmares on Wax
You Wish -- Don't let the name confuse
you, the simple guitar in the background and electric piano buzzing forward blend in
incredible harmony.
5A Tribe Called Quest
Electric Relaxation -- 'relax yourself girl, please
settle down' . Been binging on Tribe lately, and while I prefer The Low End Theory
to Midnight Marauders, this is the most easy to listen to and smooth thing they've
ever put down
Sincetta -- perhaps the best single track
polymath ever showed me. This is very eerie, incredibly smooth and keeps me on
edge the entire track. Highly recommended
3Schoolboy Q
Hands on The Wheel Ft. A$AP Rocky -- totally juvenile but oh so
catchy. Sup chambered?
2Aphex Twin
Iz-Us -- the mellow closer to the
incredibly disturbing Come to Daddy EP, RDJ's brilliant as ever, and it's nice that
he's mellow here.
1Nicolas Jaar
Why Didn't You Save Me -- gives me the chills like no song
I've ever heard before. I knew when lucidity and silentpotato both gave this a
strong endorsement I had to check it out (plus nico jaar is a baller), but this is just
levels beyond
