06.27.12 | ha that must be a majority of everyone really. but it was good but i feel like the movie has missing plot info? |

06.27.12 | The meaning behind it? I dunno. I don't think it really is supposed to have a meaning. I know that Donnie was stuck in a time loop and unless he died by the jet turbine he would just relive that part of his life over and over again, but he wouldn't really know. He would experience deja vu, but he wouldn't know that this exactly has happened before. Frank returned to him because Donnie killed him in the time loop and that brings him back. Gretchen doesn't return because she was supposed to die. She set off the chain of events, or maybe it's because she wasn't killed by Donnie, I dunno, I didn't write the movie. Anyway, that's just an explanation of how I interpret my favorite movie of all time (next to the Big Lebowski). But yeah, as for an actual meaning, I don't fucking know. Also, movies totally could have multiple interpretations. Joss Whedon said something about that. There are other meanings that people can find on their own that the author or creator didn't intend. That's what's so great about the medium of film and novels, it's open for your own fucking interpretation. |

06.27.12 | Donnie Darko blew my fourteen year old mind. So did reading all those conspiracy essays about it on the internet.
Film is cool to watch now and again. |

06.27.12 | It's a cool concept but the movie really fails in not hiding the explanation inside itself; or at least providing a structure to an explanation. |

06.27.12 | it's centered around religion and time travel. somehow he sacrificed himself by figuring out how to go back to his
bedroom the night of the turbine crash. in doing so he stopped everything that went down in the movie from taking place. |

06.27.12 | "I know that Donnie was stuck in a time loop and unless he died by the jet turbine he would just relive that part of his life over and over again" that's the gist of it, him not dying created an alternate dimension which broke off of the "supposed" timeline. In order to fix it he had to die by the jet turbine. Basically he had to die was the point of the whole movie. |

06.27.12 | it makes him out to be a martyr which has a religious element but he succeeds so through science of time travel. I think
the director was simply trying to tie the two into each other symbolically to prove some aligning message opeth. |
MetallicOpeth
06.27.12 | makes sense andcas I can see that |
andcas
06.27.12 | the directors cut is much better. there's a scene that shows donnie impaled by some scrap metal at the very end and it's
really fucking sad to view him dying. |
