Review Summary: An independent summer (In hindsight).

Here stands a collective of independents. Sovereigns who have been produced, reproduced, then tucked in a comely manner - then kept in place by a hyperlink. A slip knot contraption that tries to retain some hype or preferably guide your index towards marking a fingerprint on the storefront of your tablet; for the Vaccines have lil' retro jackets featuring in their web-store and on their clip "Handsome". However, the small print states that superficial appeal might flake-out after a couple of spins & washes, which in turn makes me cringe at a realisation: the "Indie product" has yet to reach the end of its life-cycle; the "Wakeup" virus has yet to find its way beyond antibodies produced from such misused terms. Anyhow, provided that the terms of service are accepted, you will experience the banal catchiness of "Dream Lover" & rest overdone choruses, the compressed fuzziness --post 2011 single note advertisement as monstrous riff Ltd.-- of the octaver & guitars , and the faux-sarcasm of semi-intelligent lyrics embracing the "clicking" generation; then you might conclude that those are enough to offer you some kind of value for money.

If so, do say 'cheese!' in front of my machine named "Hindsight 20/20", for the time will come when albums like English Graffiti will have retained the relevance that gaiters had when the '90s came; and though none will dare to admit habitude, I'll have your corny smile as proof... But now its summertime 2015; the indie product has yet to reach the end of its cycle, the Vaccines have lil' retro jackets featuring in their web-store and on their clip "Handsome", and the arena proprietors --in 'ol Blighty & rest sovereign states-- seem more than happy with things exactly as they are.

DrJohn going indie! Great write up as always, pos.

I can't remember if I've ever checked an indie album in full but reading your review I can see that it's not my cup of tea.

Great review John
Indie has never been my cup of tea, closest I've ever been to it is Warpaint.
