Review Summary: Easily one of the more if not most impressive releases of 2009 for Blackened-Death Metal

I am immensely impressed with this album, and have been counting the days until it released;

I was fortunate enough to actually see these guys by accident when I attended this years "Summer Slaughter Tour" which was before I even knew who they were, and with them not even being on the lineup! They actually opened (which, looking back at it now, was a damn shame - Because they were absolutely amazing).

EASILY one of the more if not most impressive releases of 2009 to date. Right up there with The Faceless' "Planetary Duality", Obscura's "Cosmogenesis", Behemoth's "Evangelion", and Dark Funeral's "Angelus Exuro Pro Eternus".

There is nothing about this album that I immediately disagree with. It's easy to digest, having rather quirky Cradle of Filth-esq riffs, mixed with a more blackened The Faceless/Necrophagist form of intensity in their leads and drumming-patterns. Giving the entire album a sort of evil and morbid aura about it, while still being very upbeat and quick and sometimes even contrary to it's dark and hateful atmosphere being ever-present.

And let's of course not forget their bassist; An utterly amazing induvidual, who - If you've been on YouTube in the past year and a half, and have happened to look up anything on: Origin, Brain Drill, Obscura, or Cannibal Corpse....Then there's a damn good chance you know who I'm talking about; (Hint: go to YouTube and search "Brain Drill - Bury The Living" and he'll be the first video [blonde hair - cant miss him]) and the video should speak for itself.

This album is extremely well-balanced, and alltogether a good listen that at first listen could be somewhat suprising. I imagine that if anyone doesnt like this album, it will most likely be because of their vocalist - whom for inexperienced listeners of this style of music may become quickly or easily turned off from them - as it is something of an acquired taste. Personally I love them, as his eerie shrieks give off a kind of sinister vibe that flows well with the music and accentuates the emotions they are trying to convey in the intensity of their music.

But alltogether they are a very structured band that has MASSIVE potential. Especially considering this is their DEBUT album - which by itself speaks volumes for their dedication and hard work, no matter what your opinion is of the band themselves.

Recommended for any fan of both Black Metal or Death Metal.

Good review, this album is probably going to top my 2009 list. And Planetary Duality "Officially" came out last year, just a heads up ;)

Looked into these guys yesterday, found they were nothing more than glorified core and immediately became disinterested. Good review, although i wouldn't give them the distinction of being labeled as blackened death because they're not.

these guys aren't awesome but they're not "pretty bad" or "glorified core" either.

Exaltations pt. 1 pretty much owns, the soloing on this album is pretty solid actually

Good review but so much unjustified tagging it makes me want to slap a Pilgrim. Also, Brain Drill and Dark Funeral suck donkey dick.

lol no fucking way! this is just another one of those highly overated "tech" bands that all crappy metal magazines are jizzing over. some of the solos on this are pretty good, but overall the music is pretty unlistenable. if you want something somewhat similar to this but 100x better, then get the album End of An Era by Inferi

Sorry, but this is terribly written, Sir. Only a paragraph barely talking on the music. The rest is basically you praising the band.

Fucking yes, jrowa001, I made the exact comparison elsewhere.

This band is a terrible twisted version of Inferi, with Dani Filth on vox

You guys should be ashamed for liking this.. filth

i dunno, it's not even the black metal style vocals that bother me, it's just that there's not POWAAAAAAAAAAA behind them.

Overrated band ... See them live and they pretty much sucked.. Not really BDM too... Vocals were annoying a lot, the overall performance by the guitarist was sloppy, the songs they played were generic..(Not listened to the album, but I hope it is better than what I heard in show). The thing that saved them was the bassist...
