new to vinyl need speaker setup

i'm picking up an audio technica at-lp120 turntable and i'm wondering what kind of speaker set up i should get. i have a small system to run it through for now, but i'd like to get something a bit nicer. any input helps, links are great too

i really don't know. i'm looking for overall value, so something that is good quality and cost efficient. nothing crazy expensive, and nothing shitty. you know what i mean?

Well, for the more budget end of audiophile you can look at the likes of Arcam, should be able to pick up an amp from ebay for a couple of hundred. Speakers I'd be tempted to pay a bit more but you can look at Kef, Castle, Monitor Audio, Mordaunt Short etc. And then don't skim on cables, get some decent ones or of a similar quality to the rest of your set up.

forgive me if this is a ridiculous question, but being that it has a built in pre-amp, can i just connect it to the speakers i have for the time being until i get a better rig?

Do you know what amp stands for?

Can you recognize large numbers on comparable devices that output electricity drawn decibel powers?

hmmm

check that its not just a phono amp. if it is then don't connect speakers. the only way to connect it direct is if you get active speakers. otherwise you will need an external amp to distribute to speakers.

not very nice sonny

they are only asking for some polite help and feel that maybe they'd get support here

i'd go for a secondhand audiolabs amp, 100w per channel and a pair of b&w speakers, 630s maybe. if they work she you buy them then they'll work for ever more or less
