im trying to work out what in the hell you're talking about

cut something into two pieces

each piece will fit with the other

wtf does being smooth have to do with it

as in they actually hold together because of the smoothness of the surfaces, not just fit together

does that make sense

ya tons of tech jobs over here

the city is just so dense and it's the first time in a long time I find my civic critic turning off and just going with the flow

life here seems to be close to the real deal, at least as America has imagined it

yeah there is actually a distinction to be made

in physics we learned that there's a difference between obstruction and friction, true friction being an actual atomic interaction where the surfaces sort of "weave" themselves together

whereas a zig-zag joint would have both obstruction and friction

but less friction means they're not gonna hold together

or what the fuck is he saying

draw a diagram in ms paint or something

he's saying a smooth or straight or clean or whatever joint can actually have a great deal of friction

like glass really doesn't like sliding against itself, even when there's little force pressing them together

nah, he's saying that they're so smooth that they hold together better

as if its the extra smoothness that helps

he threw out this cutting method that results in particularly smooth surfaces

so smooth that they hold together, like that's notable

but if you cut it with a hacksaw it would be less smooth and hold together better

he's retarded

depending on what he means by 'hold together'

draw a diagram already

well it potentially could, it's all about surface-contact and smoothness could theoretically increase that compared to two pieces that were surfaced roughly and separately but of course two pieces that were both zig-zagged and had perfect surface parity would be better
