I can smack chords out of my guitar. Somewhat haphazardly...could be therapeutic.

Do it man. I'd never written a song (lyrics included) in my life before a few months ago. Me and my girlfriend of 5 years broke up, and playing guitar is about the only thing that really helps.

yeah, I hear that.

Likewise; I've only in the middle of last year tried to sing over my guitar. Horribly inept, but I try to learn a few songs here and there and see where I'm at. Nothing like getting your emotions stomped on... how encouraging.

I was into a girl and she was into me just recently and then things fell apart at the seams, now I'm lonely...realizing it now as a stronger feeling than it's ever been.
I write a lot more now. Little poems and stuff.

Yeah, it really sucks man. A good friend of mine who's been on the singer song-writer circuit here for a few years though, who was consoling me through it did say something really helpful "There's nothing better for a musician than having his heart ripped out".

I don't let it get me down though, it sucks hard, but it's been almost 3 months, I can feel myself climbing my way back. Good music and good friends is the best medicine.

In terms of singing/playing though, I think I must always have had it in me, but I was too scared to write lyrics, and then moving out of my mums house really helped too, I live alone now so nobody can hear my practicing things for the first time. It really really helps to have nobody around when I'm practicing singing.

I can imagine. I need to move out but I first need a decent job to do that. I had my chance when I saved up my cash but I blew it all so fast being irresponsible.
For now I try and use the commentary from my family as encouragement...they say I'm terrible at everything I do.

I know that feel too, bro. I got really lucky in how I came about getting my own place, if it wasnt for some *extremely* specific circumstances, I know I'd still be living in my mums attic. Hang in there brah, it'll come along.

I know that feel too though, I have a very specific memory of living in that house and being told I can't sing haha. They all like my music now that I've had some proper practice!

Pretty lyrical! You're doing it without knowing.

I thought this bit was lyrical:

I was into a girl and she was into me
just recently, and then things fell
apart at the seams, now I'm lonely
realizing it now,
a stronger feeling than it's ever been.

man, sweet lyrics, right now i cant, i have people at home, i am a bit shy, doing these records in my bedroom. But i can drop some loops, and get some raps later.
I will definetely try to get a feel for some of your lyrics, post a demo or two, then we can do a better version, if someone wants to add a chord progression or something.
