This is a good sign. Star Trek was great.

Yeah he did a great job on the Trek movie. It was well made and respected the franchise.

I'm excited to see how he handles this. The amount of pressure alone to take on the first movie must be incredible.

Super 8 is good if you can get over the fact that the least talented child actors on earth were cast for all the leads.

Well, his Star Trek movie was a really awesome Star Wars movie, so logically his Star Wars movie should be pretty awesome.

was there ever published a story line bout ep. 7-9, as in who the movies would be about? I imagine Skywalker's playing a role, but apart from that..

The episodes were written by Lucas at the same time as the first six installments. The vague plot notes are on the ep. vii wiki page.

The only film that I found to be more disappointing than Cloverfield was Super 8.

I liked Cloverfield, shaky cams usually don't affect me. Except that typical argument of 'who the hell would keep the camera on' etc. Super 8 sucked though.

I'm still deciding if Disney will milk the franchise more than Lucas. Thought it's better in their hands than his. They've done alright with marvel.
