'call me maybe' vs 'good time'

sputnik music, let's settle this - which was the best song of 2013?

call me maybe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWAdb1vgoik

or

good time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oBU7d5oenQ

i, and many with me around the world, think that good time is an amazing song which is potentially up there with call me maybe

good time is not even the "better song" (wtf does that even mean)

it feels less spontaneous and genuine, has no narrative flow, and is downright nonsensical at points. The production and collaborative aspects also feel too sell-out-ish

plus it automatically loses points for being another fucking song where the chorus doesn't even consist of lyrics but rather "whoa"s and "oh"s

to me, as a carly rae fan, it has an element of joyful naivety and straightforwardness, a kind of "i'm in if you're down to get down tonight" simplicity, like you don't need no clever lyrics or narrative, all you need is a catchy hook and some whoa-whoas~

also does the sell-out concept even apply to an artist like carly rae? i mean she's already as sold out as she can be, the whole point of a song like this is to make it appeal to as many people as possible

it def applies

the dif is between being inoffensive and offensively empty

because of this I don't feel joyful naivete when listening to good time, I feel the evil, avaricious hands of producers molesting the cash cow's utters

Call Me Maybe was abused by parodies and people dancing in moving vehicle videos.

Give me Good Time.

Call Me Maybe only became popular after Justin Bieber's parody video. I think that reflects enough.

i think many of these call me maybe tribute/parody/cover videos are actually not particularly great, but it's like, pop call me maybe on top of anything and it's good

Parts of the melody in Good Time remind me heavily of this song Pon Pon Pon.
