Prog Rock/Experimental Project

Drummer living in Syracuse NY

Want to throw together a prog/experimental project, most likely over long distance.

Goal would be to write 4 or 5 songs over the next year, and during the summer break in between semesters get into the studio.

As an alum of Boston University's CDIA (audio production program) I still have access to their facilities and would be more than happy to use my time there to record, mix, and master our project.

Porcupine Tree, Opeth, and all offshoots of those (storm corrosion, steven wilson's solo/various other projects), King Crimson, Zappa, Tull, Anathema (post- 1997), Gordian Knot, Cynic (especially Carbon...), Aeon Spoke, etc.

I dig the heavier stuff for sure, as indicated by stuff I've written in the past, but would really like to just be experimenting with sounds and melodies first and rhythms second, than just making complex break downs and crazy riffs.

P.s. I'd like to primarily play drums but will obviously throw my two cents in to the composing process as well.

I'm a HUGE Meshuggah, Cynic, Haken, Chimp Spanner, Animals As Leaders, The Contortionist, etc. fan.

Check out some of my stuff.

My friend and I just finished a song "Demo" which is not really heavy, but it's a decent song. I don't know if you'd be down to collab on a song or not, but I'd love to regardless if it turned into a project or not.
