Why does hot water freeze quicker than cold water?

no tricks....just wanna know why the hot water pipes usually freeze first in the winter, shouldn't the cold water pipes freeze first?

Anyone wishing to help me out with this one should write their answer on the back of a $50 bill and send it to:

The Mpemba effect is the observation that warmer water can sometimes freeze faster than colder water. Although the observation has been verified, there is no single scientific explanation for the effect.

maybe linked to the fact that solid water is less dense than liquid water, wich is unusual for matter.

Or maybe the cold pipes you are referring to are outake pipes, that have water with other solutes in it, wich make it harder to solidify.
