but if a really bad review gets negged a lot like hawks reviews then they ask for them to be deleted and the site is spared having a horrible review

I think they've adopted a new way of dealing with that. They just tell you to edit rather than delete and re-write. The example you are giving is Hawks' Goblin review, I assume, which hasn't actually been deleted so it's still out there.

Out of curiosity, is there a reason why SputnikMusic is rarely included within the review/reception section on the Wikipedia pages for any given album?

They decided that only staff reviews can be used. Even then, they miss some... But they do that for most albums.

There was a pretty fun WikiWar a couple years ago where the page was contested for legitimacy. Someone - I forget who, exactly, it might have been Iai or DFelon - textually curbstomped the shit out of the detractors.

Unfortunately, the page still is a frequent target of phony edits, but at least it's there. The more important thing is still being endorsed via Metacritic.

So in terms of professional "inclusion" (for lack of a better word), this site is endorsed by Metacritic and by Wikipedia (Staff reviews only). That's still pretty solid. Does anyone know how high Metacritic weights Sputnik though? (I remember hearing from somewhere that Metacritic keeps score via weighted averages)

Not really sure where we stand, but I doubt that Metacritic assigns different values based on print vs. ezine:

http://www.metacritic.com/about-metascores

Also, they are kinda blunt about it:

i have to think that sputnik is hardly factored in at all. ive seen it where sputnik's score will be like 40 and 3 other reviews will be 80 and metacritic gives it an 83

They probably throw out outliers when factoring the score. That 100 that Pitchfork is slobknobbing over vs. our 20 are probably removed in favor of cokemachineglow's, Rolling Stone's, NME's, and Billboard's more moderate scores.
