You post a list that's not about music, and is about NBA instead. I post a list that's not about music, and is about the world pool championships instead. Someone else posts a list that's not about music, and is about the new series of House instead. People coming onto the site for the first time think that's standard; post lists about museums they like, matches they watched that evening, relationship advice. In a few months' time, the lists section is almost 50% not about music. On a music website. I have to dig through the lists to get to one about music.

In short, this is why a basic level of moderation is needed, because there are things that you care about, and things that I care about, and things that other people care about, but the one thing that everybody cares about is music, and so preserving that as at least the main topic of conversation is sort of a big deal.

We run a script every couple of months that automatically wipes the ratings of people who troll rate band's catalogues - it must have found something in yours.
