Shop f*cked up my Floyd

I bought a vintage electric this summer (1987 Larrivee RS-4), but the Floyd (original Floyd, not some licensed hunka o' junk) setup was waaaay off (precious owner tried using it as a hardtail).

Handed in the guitar to a techie who set it all up, but after a few days, the high E started getting stuck on the first fret, making first an awful lstring buzz, and subsequently, sustain virtually non-existant.

Taking my baby (now nicknamed Layla - and no, it's not named after THAT song) back to the shop, the guy tweaked the truss rod, and now everything was fine and dandy... for about a week. Then I started noticing some REAL bad ****.

Long story short, all bends from the 12th fret and up kill the note completely. IE, sustain and tone is fine and dandy, but as soon as i try to bend that sucker, the sound just dies completely.

Now, I figured I can just tweak it all by raising the floyd studs, but honestly, I've never owned one before, so I'm not all that keen on just taking a shot in the dark.

Any suggestions?

Floyds are a tough setup. They almost seem counter-intuitive at times.

If string was getting stuck under the first fret, that sounds like your fret was not put in all the way and you managed to get it stuck.

When the note just does out, is there a buzzing that accompanies it? As if maybe it's just fretbuzz and that's killing the sustain?

I'd take it to a different tech for sure and get his opinion.

Also, have you changed the strings?

tough to say what the issue is, but it probably is mostly a neck issue.

any way you could post some pictures?
