Is personality inherited?

This was brought up in my biology class but my teacher just kind of danced around it without actually answering it. What do you guys think?

certain dispositions could be but most of a person's personality is the result of nurture not nature

I didn't read the thread but yeah I think picking your nose is fine. It helps boost your immune system and is a tasty snack. I don't see why people get so caught up on it tbh

yeah but hard to draw the line between what is inherited in the sense that it's genetic and what is inherited in the sense that it's passed down through parenting or w/e

when my dad speaks to people on the phone he mostly ignores what they say, waits for them to finish then a few seconds later hastily says 'verygood' because that's his cue to say something. I always hated it but now i do it too

i don't know if i was taught to do it directly because we only talk like a single figure number of times a year, i think a lot of why i act like my dad comes from my mum treating me like my dad

i've thought a lot about this because i'm apparently strikingly different from my parents

but at the same time i notice some little trivial things that i've picked up from each of them

i dont know. i mean its clear to me that who we are is influenced so much by accidents of circumstance but i cant really trace my characteristics to their origins except in that sense of little moments. i think it does help people a lot in deciding how theyre going to be to really accept where theyre from

My mom says I've got the same habits as my grandfather. I eat my meals in the same way/order (vegs, side, then main course without ever mixing) and have an obsession with time/watches like he did. He died when she was a teen years before I was born.

She could be projecting though I don't really know.

All of the above. Honestly my mother has said that during some instances I act like my dad. Though I've also had my grandmother (my mother's mother) tell me that I act like my mother's Father. So I think people's tendencies may be some what genetically disposed, but exactly how we do things is learned from nurture. I never really compared how I act to my father, currently deceased so can't do it now really, and to my understanding my mother's father cheated on her mother and they were divorced when she was 8. So I've never met the guy. If I did I would probably kick him in the balls though.

Pretty obvious answer: Partly yes, partly no, it's all about fuckin circumstances

If you took baby Hitler and locked him in a closet until he was 12 years old would he have the personality of an outgoing guy who wanted to kill all the jews? Fuck no
