If ever there was a time for Vunipola to redeem himself, it's this penalty scrum

Gah. I suppose it prolongs the fun though. Lions by 50 points next week.

feel that maybe the balance has swung. should've called sexton for that last kick. o'driscoll played his heart out. hope he gets a series win. lots of injuries. interesting to see how they develop. always feel that the 3rd test should be two weeks out

Sexton wouldn't have got that kick over as his first kick on the tour

Next week sees Roberts and Tuilagi back in contention for a starting place. Really hope Warbuton isn't out, he's been a workhorse

And North... that attempted tackler being dumped didn't half get the crowd going!

Sexton doesn't have Halfpenny's range and even Halfpenny couldn't make the distance. The Lions gameplan today was disappointingly negative and they started defending deeper and deeper towards the end. Nobody stood out in attack but the back line was standing so deep I'd be surprised if they had. Sexton beat a couple of defenders but that was about it.

fantastic, yet another test plays havoc with my nerves. thought lions defended superbly for about 40 minutes until the superb warburton went off at which point we looked a lot weaker. vunipola started terribly but tightened up and made a ton of tackles, and the rest of the forwards (esp. the backrow) were excellent throughout. the backs really let us down though, especially BOD, who was shocking in attack, and JD, who was anonymous except when missing tackles.

can't wait for next week...

bit harsh i'd say, both teams are more than solid and each have one or two absolutely world class players (genia, cooper, potentially folau, then north, adam jones, 1/2p).

On what planet would that be fair? Australia are good, not great. The Lions are good, not great. The Aussies look like a fairly unspectacular side who work really hard to make the most of their inferior talent. The Lions look like a fairly ordinary squad sprinkled with some world class talent who are still a bit unfamiliar with one another and lack cohesion as a result.

It's a pretty good Wallabies team but the forwards are generally not great, where the Lions excel. I'm not surprised they struggle to overcome them. They're also without some of their best players (Cooper, for whatever reason, Pocock, who I think is injured).

But ridic to say call them bad.

They're not a great side, no.

But they'd comfortably account for everyone in the northern hemisphere, I think. Maybe not England on a good day. So I don't think it's right to call them bad.

not sure thats the game changer. lions had a chance to end it at the weekend and didn't take it. gatland is a suddy hemi plant making a bollox of the team. like what the fuck are they doing recovering on the sunshine coast and having huge sore men spend more time on cramped planes whist they are recovering

Tuilagi and Roberts to demolish the defensive line with BOD to come on at 60mins and score a match-winning try

Warburton is a big loss, but arguably going to Australia with a traditional fetcher wasn't the best approach. Ireland overwhelmed Australia in 2011 with three ball-carrying back rows and no proper fetcher, and I suspect Gatland could go Lydiate-O'Brien-Heaslip on Saturday. The problem in the two games so far has been a lack of proper ball carriers, but that won't be a problem this week if O'Brien and Roberts are in the side.

O'Driscoll has to play now Warburton is out. And also because he's still the best 13 in the world. But also because the team needs every leader it can get, hence why Heaslip should edge Faletau even if the latter could invigorate the team with his energy and physicality.

Yeah thinking about it I can't see BOD not starting, he's the biggest motivator they have now. Still, I want to see Roberts and Tuilagi on the pitch on Sat. Pretty gutted for Faletau too, he's not had much of a say recently

Not so much fire in the throat of the dragon as a ring that needed purifying with the most intense of fires
