How to sell over seas

I finally got an inquiry about my drum set. The onyl problem was that she is in the UK. I dont know if i should find this suspicious or not seeing as i posted it in the ontario section.

Anyways she sent me an email and i have to ask how do i sell to the over seas. How do i do it so that i wont get scammed if by anychance this is a scam.

well the obvious answer is don't send the drums until you've received payment. If you wanted to be really cautious you could set up a private ebay auction and do everything through there.

Paypal is very secure, i'd suggest using that. I'm unsure if Canada/UK has it or how it works for you guys, though.

She says she is sending an international money order. How long do these usually take to get and it is something i can cash right away to make sure she has the funds rights?

hmm is it electronic, meaning did she just pay you over the internet, if so that will go straight into your bank account or was it in the post, the post will just depend on what service she got like express or standard,if a cheque you just bank it and it will take 2-3 working days to clear

Ask to talk to them on the phone, if they call you using the relay service then it is a scam.

It's more than likey a scam. Do they say that they have a shipping company already? If so, it's a scam.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Money_order

its prolly the best non electronic method. i dont think the fact that its from the uk id be more caustious if it was a far eastern country or something. cause you see all the scams from vhina thailand etc on ebay. its be just as easy for an american to scam you.

Money order is better than paypal, and probably the best way you can do this.

And it probably isn't a scam.

If you accept a paypal payment it could have been made with a stolen credit card or stolen bank account which means that you have to refund the money... too bad you only find this out a week or sometimes longer after the transaction in which case you've already sent your drums.

The same goes for international bank transfers.

But with an intenional money order, once you cash it and collect the money then it can't be taken from you... even if payment was made from a stolen account (the post office have to refund the stolen money, as they accepted it) and you get to keep your cash.

What most of the people in this thread are forgetting is TS is a seller and not a buyer, and you can't scam seller's with international money orders...
