i voted for sheephead, it seemed very well put together, and i liked his tone better. flea_slap_god's tone seemed a little too tinny for slap.

Sheep: At least on my comp, was getting a horrible high-pitched buzzy sort of noise all the way through. That said, good tone. Your entry demonstrates the best slap chops I have heard in this contest so far. I really like how you feel comfortable enough to not have to use a ton of layers to cover up for lackluster individual layers. But it didn't feel that much like a song.
Flea: Tinny tone, but I actually liked it. I liked your groove. A little awkward at times though. Felt pretty repetetive. The slapping is good though. I can't decide which song I prefer, so I am going to go with sheephead just on terms of chops. |

I went with flea_slap_god, sheepheads sounded messy to me and just didn't groove as well as the other. Both would have benefitted from drums imo.

I felt that the fact that it was solo was really fresh. Generally in these bass comps people have a bunch of layers and effects, it is nice to here something more clean.

Sheepheads had some riffs i liked, and tone was much beefier which was a big factor. So i went for Sheephead

To Sheephead:
A good piece. A little "wanky" at points, but well balanced. I liked the "rolling" like slap rhythm you got going for a few seconds about three quarters of the way in. To flea_slap_god: A very nice piece. A good solid groove and great to listen too. I did find the tone a little to treble friendly. All in all, very nice. My vote goes to flea_slap_god, because I enjoyed the groove of his more. |

Sheephead:
From all the other stuff on your sound click, I was expecting some mad chops. And I got them. I really liked the fact that your entry was very simplistic in the texture, but ballanced different sounds and colors really well. If I had to choose a complaint about your song, it's that the whole thing sounded like a solo (albeit a very good one). I was looking for a discernable melody. Over all, a very nice piece. Flea: I liked the different effects with the pedals. My complaint with yours is almost the same as with sheephead's: to me, it kinda sounded like a whole bunch of little riffs that you came up with spliced together into the form of a song. It wasn't that it was bad, far from it. However, it felt a little dissjointed to me. I'd say my overall vote is going to sheephead on this one. But kudos to both of you. |
