Positive Figures in the Media.

Who in our time do you think is/has a positive impact or influence on our world or society. Why?

This isn't a school question.I'm just curious.

Recently Bill gates announced he was going to resign in two years to start working on world hunger and other similiar projects. But thats not so much media. For the media I think John Stewart has had a positive impact on political awarness.

your opinion?

My first answer was going to be Bill Gates. But George Clooney just ran the media gauntlet for some cause and was convincing... I think it was African hunger. Along that lines, I think Oprah has a huge impact on America (even though some on the right claim she is trying to form a cult or some other nonsense). A suprising number of her shows deal with tragedies, but her approach to them is to encourage her audience to respond positively, and create change through compassion and action.

I wouldn't say that John Stewart/Stephen Colbert have a positive impact; while they certainly increase awareness, they also increase cynicism.

What drew me to them was there poking fun at some of the settle moronic things politicians say or do. Even though they edit the speeches or video. But these days they don't have to some of the time.

Positive media figures eh? A figure who sets a positive example without having to outright say he or she is setting a positive example.

This is exactly who I thought of.

Also, I agree with Stewart.
