Buy The Internet

From savetheinternet.com

Congress is pushing a law that would abandon the Internet's First Amendment -- a principle called Network Neutrality that prevents companies like AT&T, Verizon and Comcast from deciding which Web sites work best for you -- based on what site pays them the most. If the public doesn't speak up now, our elected officials will cave to a multi-million dollar lobbying campaign. Last night’s House vote against an amendment that would make Net Neutrality enforceable is the result of swarming lobbyists and a multi-million-dollar media campaign by telephone companies that want Congress to hand them control of the Internet.

Companies could have control over what you can access on the internet. If sputnikmusic.com did not pay as much as www.othermusicforum.com then MX could load much slower, you could be redirected, or not even load at all.

I'm very intested in this. If anyone as any other information I would love to hear it, as well as your opinions.

I'm sure other books treat this in greater depth, but you should probably read the internet portions of the world is flat if you want to know why this isn't going to happen again.

it sounds like a bad thing, itll only catch on here if it happens in the US as well.

the thing is, in say 20 years time, the internet wont be as free as it is now i dont think, itll evolve into something different entirely, and i think this is the start really
