6th of June

With all the ludicrous speculation on the nature of the 06/06/06 date, I thought I would remind everyone of the real historical importance of this date, as in, it is the anniversary of one of the bravest military manouvers in history, D-Day.

It's far more important to remember this, than make childish comments on Satanism.

It's not the first time or the last time 06/06/06 is going to come up either.

i dont think theres many people in our generation who can comprehend what the two big wars were like, its all been glamourised in so many computer games and films,
ill easily say i cannot comprehend the millions (around 40 i think) who died in russia or any of that

It's also the date of the Israel war in 1967 in which Israel defeated its Arab neighbours in the Six-Day War, occupying West Bank, Gaza Strip, Sinai peninsula and Golan Heights, the day Israel proved it's no longer a weak country, but a dominating one.

I love being in NYC today.

Lotsa wackos holding up the obligatory "REPENT" signs and handing out fliers detailing the rapture and how any moment the world will end.

I love it.

yeah, despite how bloody WWII was though, still more people died in the civil war than what the US lost in WWII.
but i'm pretty sure that's just becuase the US joined the war late.

There are other people in the world besides Americans.

WWII was far worse than the Civil War.

WWII was the bloodiest war in history, followed by the Taiping Rebellion in the 1800's, and then WWI if I'm not mistaken. Korea and Vietnam each had millions killed in them. The Civil War is a skirmish in comparison to these wars.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I cannot begin to comprehend the nature of D-Day. It is something I can't imagine the magnitude of what happened that day. My hat is off to all the men who fought that day, and for all veterans for that matter.

Ah so only American lives count when it comes to lifes lost in war?

Yeah I like your reasoning. Very insightful.

No for real.

On a related note, the attention put to this subject (satan omg) is just stupid and beyond reason. People don't want objective data, people just enjoy buying groceries until the stores runs out of supplies, buying gas before anyone so they get fire when the end comes, Using those bunkers they couldn't use during the cold war bitching.

It's just the joy and excitement of something different going on. I would get a panic attack like that if I could.

In little pounds defence I think he ment American lives on both instances. In other words, we lost more American lives in the Civil War than in WWII. Which I think is true.

I'm sure he did, however, the American lives lost in WWII are negligable compared to the countless times more British and Russian troops, as I'm sure we're all aware.

That was my main point in making this. Such sacrifice taking a back seat to National Enquirer foolishness is really wrong.

Bingo. There aren't too many veterans of D-Day left, so it's more relevant than ever to remember the sacrifice they made in the most noble war we've ever waged.

It's a shame so many people have forgotten about it in this ridiculous Satan thing.

It's hard to comprehend the bravery and courage of the men that fought and died that day. *salutes*

no that's not what i meant at all but considering i am an american, the american deaths is mroe relevant to me. Just like people in europe, asia, etc. could care less about the how many american lives were lost in the civil war.....

that's what i did mean

edit: I found the numbers on some internet site. THe amount of deaths in the civil war is 618,000. THe amoung of deaths (from the US) is 405,000. You also have to take into account the times, the civil war happened long before WWII. 600,000 men were killed using cannons and muskets, not rifles, bombs and fighter planes. That's amazing to me.

In any case there are better ways to word your beliefs on the internet. But yes I guess you are right in a way.

Just so you know I respect your point of view on this.
