my crappy sg

This is my crappy epiphone goth sg

Currently, it has a half-decent bridge pick up from my ibanez RGT, No neck pick up and where there was a neck pick up, some black paper to cover it

the bridge pick up is controlled by a killswitch. It has a black satin finish

This is my only other electric guitar, and I'm not about to go and buy a new guitar pick up because it's a waste of money for this guitar, but there's probably something else I Can do

suggestions?

I still agree with that guy that said you should get the emgs but you could pimp out cosmetically like maybe getting all gold hardware and gold sperzel or something locking tuners. AND if you want paint it white. white paintjob+good hardware that is gold = good sg

Gee, I spent 50 bucks on the guitar, they're about 150 dollars new, do you really think I want to go out and spend $300+ on this guitar? Don't post until you get a little smarter, I already said I didn't want to buy new pick ups and it was already repeated in this thread.

Well I can think of alot of things, but I'm not really sure what you want. If the guitar isn't worth much, and you don't want to put money into it, it's hard to recommend any mods.

A guitar with that kind of value is good for electronics project, practicing finishes, or any other kind of bitch work you don't want to attempt on a nic guitar just yet.

Agreed, unless you want to put any money in it, which you don't, you can't do much. You could make it fretless, do a cheap paintjob, take apart a pedal you have and install it into the guitar itself. Build your own pickup for cheap (there are how to's online, and in books) and install that.

maybe spend like 10$ and get a switch to make it series/parallel/single coil
that will give you a few sounds with that on pickup

thanks to those who made productive posts, it seems like you guys think I can't do that much with the guitar, but I've seen some great ideas I hadn't thought of, like the pedal in the guitar, and the fretless idea. Azn_bassist I like your idea a lot.

If you're going to make a post like ccr90 or lateralus423, see what you can do about getting cancer and dying first.

100% sure you have to buy maestro tremolos from gibson directly, and they cost more than kahlers. buy a kahler, and some new pickups, and it'll be a good guitar. i don't care if you don't want to put in a new pickup. suck it. that's the best option on here to make it somewhat high end.

I guess, but the guitar is made out of cheap wood, and the pick up in there is probably better than the stock pick up it came with.

actually, It's not a thin neck, but I prefer it. Neck sizes don't affect my speed to be honest.
