Guitar forumers!
Yes, it's a bass subforum. But it all applies to you too, and we were starting to get a couple of guitar questions asked in here, so why not make it a shared subforum?

can't you make this subforum appear in guitar too if it's for both forums?
and also make the guitar&bass subforum appear in the bass forum aswell and not only the guitar forum. or is this not possible? edit: woops you already did |

ok. for the guitar people. can i put 2 hotrails next to each other instead of the humbucker i have in the bridge of my yam. will it sound ok?
is the pacifica scratch plate the same as a strat one? what relativly easy mods can i make to my guitar. i've sprayed it pink already. and it's really turning into a bit of a project guitar. |

AG, you should go to the Galloup Guitars school over here when I go. That'd be oarsum. Unless y'all got some good schools over there. |

It'd be very easy to put in a series/parallel switch, and relatively easy to put in a coil tap style switch in.
Ther are loads of electronic gizmos out there, built in OD/Distortions or EQ's and stuff. Have a look on http://www.axesrus.co.uk for some of the pre-built stuff. http://www.diyguitarist.com has some cool stuff on it too. |

i was thinking of getting the hotrails from axesrus. my friend reccomended them.
what do i need to do about shielding? i have put a very rough kill switch into my guitar but it's badly done and is in need or a rewire. i just didnt really get what i should ground to... i think i might get the £21.00 Vintage Tube Screamer/Expander Booster Circuit ,OFF = STOCK GUITAR ON=DUAL MODE HI-LO TRIM POT TO SET YOUR OWN LEVELS and possibly even the Distortion Driver ONBOARD DISTORTION EFFECTS 5 DISTORTION LEVELS. just for the hell of it. Yeh, Sad But True just got those, and they're great apparently.
Shielding you can do with copper adhesive tape, just sheild all the cavities you can and then ground the shielding. I means the ground signal is completely surrounding the electronics/hot signal, and it makes it really quiet. |

Yo yo yo.
1: Greatest forum ever. 2: Yeah, I just got the QDD distortion driver. I was contemplating getting the tubescreamer one, but got the 2 switch mid/gain booster instead. Sound quality really suprised me, the five setting son the QDD (in my own words) are off, light crunch-sort of 60s/70s overdrive, same as before but with more gain, really bassy, boomy overdrive high gain distortion. I use settings 2 and 3 to push my valve amp a little more, and it works quite well. I use setting 4 when there's too much treble, like when i need a really smooth sound. The 5th setting really can be used as a standalone distortion, but i like to use it with an oveerdriven amp to create a horribly messy, fuzz-type sound, and it also creates instant feedback. Be warned though, it does require a lot of room. I had to do a fair bit of 'routing' to fit everything in. (routing = drilling + chiseling for me) Of course, I did fit a TBX pot and the mid/gain boost switch aswell, but the QDD has the pcb mounted vertically, so it need about an inch maybe more space from the pickguard. |
