Worst you've messed up a gig/audition
I sang by best out of the 5 college auditions i've had this year, and managed to completely botch over the sight-singing (which was in Cmajor and very simple) I never did poorly on a sight-singing before, so this was out of the blue.
fess up - - what's the most embarassing mess up you've had? |

Had an audition for college and totally played my piece perfectly until the end where I just completely lost time and hit the wrong notes. Sucked.

Forgetting to switch off the distortion for a second as I was ending my solo thing and going into the chorus bit.
No biggie. |

nobody noticed but, we thought it was the amp that screwed up, but the back of my shoe hit the volume knob of my distortion pedal and turned it back down to minimum, so we stopped and picked up where we left off

Sometimes I'll go into the wrong part of the song if I'm not paying attention. I usually just improvise my way out of it, though.

I've sung stuff backwards, I've had the batteries die in my tuner mid song (silence results when that happens), I've had my guitar player blow a fuse in his amp and had to sing with just me on bass and my drummer, last gig we played I jumped up on the mains to play, and after the song was over I jumped back down, lost my balance and fell onto my back. I've had stage lights explode, I had an attack of hysteria one night for some reason and couldn't stop giggling, snot running down my face unchecked. I've had my truck stolen (and returned the next day; some guy was too drunk to tell he was in the wrong truck-his key fit for some reason) and had to marshall all my friends to get my gear home. My singer and guitar player have come to fisticuffs after a show one night. My guitar player showed up to a gig one night without his pedal and had to play all night sitting on his amp to work between the clean/dirty channel.
In other words, what HASN'T happened. |

I once broke a string but forgot to bring spares and had to put a D string where my high E should go and tune it an octave lower. I've broken countless sticks, and my voice cracked one time while I was singing, but usually I play pretty well. Once I was in a band for just one gig and they were giving me a hardtime about looking too stiff during rehearsals, so I went as robotic as I could until the gig where I just lost my shit on stage. Not so much messing up as just embarrassing.

Although, throwing my screaming guitar player out of my truck on New Year's Eve to walk like 10 miles home ranks right up there. |

First gig ever, singing a cover of Drain You by Nirvana, y'know how the song comes in with vocals straight away?
Well let's just say I was singing a VERY different note to which I should've. Also had a gig where the foldback was making a shocking noise when we got up on stage, so what does soundn00b 101 do? Unplugs the foldbacks... couldn't hear anything I was singing and considering the gig was outside I had no noise reflection which results in lots of flat/sharp singing. :/ I've also just completely forgotten lyrics and 'baaahh-hummed' my way through. Argh. |

I was playing a solo for my school alone, and my amp died or something for a couple seconds, didn't turn out too bad though.

having the lead workfine in the brief warmup right before a song at a school assembly and then when we start it doesn't work
spent the next minute or so fidling around with the lead and finally got it to work then started playing something which surprisingly sounded like it was meant to come in there.also playing otherside by the chili's on stage and then getting to the second verse realising i had no top e string so I had to iumpro the bits i couldn't do without some thought. The solo turned out surprisingly good on the B string. |
