LP distruction

Would it be possible to cut a series of scratches into an old LP of mine, so that when played on a record player it would produce a rhythem? Anyone have any ideas about this? I saw it in a commerical and thought it'd be a great idea, if I could get it to work.

It probably wouldn't be good for the needle, but you should try it and report back anyway, for the sake of science.
