What instrument is this?

i think its a 12-string guitar, but i dont know i've seen one in real life so i'm just guessing LOLOL     i think maybe the large cloth thing is to help regulate the tone or somethin HELP GUYS PLZZZ

it is a rare japanese reeded woodwind, i beleive it is called a "sheen tan go"...
