Yeah, I do. I'm currently in the midst of preparing for three university auditions around March.

I started violin in school, but I haven't been playing very long. Basically the only thing I can do it play some scales.
I love the instrument though. Very expressive. |

Can you play an electric violin through a guitar amp? Does distortion sound good on it? Can it be used with a cry-baby wah wah? Anyone that knows please reply, cause i couldnt find this stuff out on google. I play a lot of different kind of music(im a guitarist) like grunge, alternative, some ska, metal, and classic rock and even folkish stuff like dylan. Any answers that could be provided would be thoroughly appreciated.

I've been playing for nearly a year now, and it's so the best instument in the world. I wish I'd started that when I was younger instead of the guitar.
I have a crappy cheap violin, when I play gigs with it I plug a guitar transducer into it and amplify it with that. Not great but it works |

I've been playing for about 13 years now, and I am concertmistress in my school's orchestra. I played for a bit in 2 youth symphonies, where I did solo parts in some concertos, but didn't have the time because of my heavy studies. Right now I am mostly dedicated to one quartet with viola, because of our heavy gig schedule.
I have no life right now, so I spend most of my time playing a musical instrument of some sort, or doing something study-related. When I'm posting here it's usually because I am procrastinating some sort of assignment I went online for The violin is a beautiful instrument. I never really began to understand the art of it until about 2 or 3 years ago. Before that I was too egotistical and played in competitions just to win, not to share my art or for the joy of playing. My playing has also improved so much, as I'm not so centered on technicality, but more so on musicality. I have respect for anyone who has the self-discipline and dedication to devote any part of their life to this instrument, from a beginner to virtuoso. Cheers. |

hello all,
i have played violin for 34 years ive lead symphony orchestras and did musical productions, worked with chamber choirs, played in comps and eventually taught in secondary schools. Its a wonderful instrument and i play classical as well as blues and blue grass, pop and rock. im a bass musician too and my wonderful hubby bought me the most beautiful white electric sculpted violin, its just the outer edge the rest is cut out, its magic to play and yes i use his guitar amp and effects peddals. so have a go and youl realy have a ball, i do have 1 hand crafted french violin i paid heaps for along time ago thats all i wanted appart from an electric one they are heaps of fun. nice to know so many others are playing, chears all, keep up the good work. |

I've played for 12 years now, ever since I was four. It's really made learning how to play things like guitar and bass really easy.
Unfortunantly, I have such a crappy violin that it's hard to get good tones out of it. |
