Yamaha DGX-205 vs DGX-202

I was just wondering if the 205 is an upgraded version or a complete replacement for the 202.

I am looking to buy a keyboard to learn how to play and i am torn between the PSR295 61key (€299) and the DGX-205 76key (€439)

I have read user reviews of the PSR295 and the majority who bought it seem to like it, however i cant find any user reviews of the DGX205, but i can find info on a DGX202, which deosnt seem to get as high user reviews as the PSR295 but then its hard to compare both from the fact that nobody actually compared the two against each other.

I have got a catalogue from my local music shop and the technical difference between the DGX205 and the PSR295 is naturally the number of keys, a pitch bend function, and 2x 6watt speakers over the 295's 2x 3watt speakers, but thats all i know.. i really just want to know if one sounds better than the other and if the only actual difference between the two is just keys and a pitch bend thing

I know this may be a stupid question but is it easier to learn on a 61 key or 76 key, i know the difference is range but will it affect learning?

I am trying to make a decision as soon as possible, thanks

Well I'd go for the Yamaha DGX-505 - 88 key picked mine up for just over £300 (About 435 Euro?)

It does make a lot better sound, has much more functionality, looks better, has a better XGlite range of midi sounds....and it has a pitch bend

Unfortunately i cant order online, for me to get that keyboard it would cost me almost double that, even the DGX-305 would cost me €549

Right Ok, in which case may i reccommend the DGX keyboard? the PSR range is very much for younger people, and the DGX series produces such a nicer set of midi sounds - look up XGlite on ... any search engine... you'll find it a lot better to work with

So for actually just playing tradionally without synthesizer effects, be it portable grand or not the sound reproduction would be exactly the same from both boards

I think i get it now the PSR range would be for Beginners/Amateurs and the DGX is for the professional.

One more thing though, neither model is more complicated than the other is it? bear in mind this will be my first keyboard, i already dont have much of a clue and thats even without hundred of buttons/functions staring me in the face

You'll have no difficulty with either keyboard, but the sound reproduction would be better with the DGX range model. BOth have very simple and easy-to-use UI, so take your pick!
