Finger stretches
Right now, the most I can really play decently is a 1 octave stretch with each hand (I have really small hands). My hands stretch pretty well already because of my bass playing, but I don't see how they can possibly stretch anymore.
My concern is, in a lot of pieces (I'm still learning though), it seems like I might have to stretch much further than that from thumb to pinky, and it's kind of disconcerting. How much is this going to affect me? edit: this is for piano btw, didn't this used to be its own forum? =P Last edited by CaseLogic; 12-25-2005 at 10:11 PM. |

Yea-this used to be a piano only forum but recently changed.
I know what ya mean about the stretches. I need to work on it too and I think that it will affect you but you can always get better with it. How long have you been playing? |

Ok then. You have plenty of time to work on it then. I was gonna say that if it was a long time and you couldnt get it, you would definately have problems. Just keep working on it and eventually you should see improvement.
Are you using a standard key size piano or a smaller keyed keyboard? either way, 1 octave is still pretty good and it isnt always so much the stretching but the moving around that you will have to do. Hope all this has helped... |

I've been playing bass for a while so I have my finger stretching already more than they used to, and I was wrong I can do an octave + 1 key. They're normal sized keys. The most I can ever see myself stretching is maybe one more, I don't see how my hand could contort anymore
