The STrokes - First Impressions Of Earth.

Yup, going to be the one to do it. Their new album is available on the interwebbernet now and I have had a chance to start listening. Here's my First Impressions of First Impressions:

When I was a kid there would always be some bully ****ing up my game. Then one day, these bullies changed. It was either because I grew gigantic guns and was just so drop-dead gorgeous that girls often exploded when they saw me or they just became normal people - ****ing wierd. This album is sort of like that. The Strokes blasted onto the scene a couple of years back with that patented, monotonous, late-70's-esque rock. Everyone loved that, they were the bullies pouring **** on the world. Now, they've changed. Julian is doing something with his voice. Nick and Fab are moving outward with their guitaring. They have advanced, this is GOOD. However, contrary to anything the NME write; The Strokes are nothing special. The bully that used to beat down has changed into someone new, but is no one new in the whole spectrum of people. Similarly, The Strokes arn't really bringing anything new to the world. That arguement is used with every band of the now. So, I'll leave it by saying their is some choons that everyone and his bully should have a listen to.

Your thoughts?

I dont really understand everything you said in your post, but i have heard Juice Box, and ive decided ill buy this album just to see how they have changed. Is This It was fantastic, and Room On Fire was a great second album. Hope this one is good.

Just got tickets to see them live in february, I'm really excited about that. I heard most of their new songs from a live show radio 1 and they sounded really nice. The guitaring is much more advanced once again (Room on fire was advanced on Is this it methinks) and sounds really good. I love juicebox. I don't think they will ever be an amazing band but they make some really fun catchy songs.

I've only heard Juicebox so far.

It's not that bad at all. I'm still not finished listening to it, but I'm enjoying it so far.

I downloaded four tracks and it's okay so far.

I didn't like Juicebox as much but I like The Other Side actually. It has a certain feel and groove to it.

I've only heard Juicebox and I will say it was one of the worst single's from a band that's semi-respectable, that I've heard for a long time. Not a fan of it at all.

Their first two albums are catchy guitar pop. They're good at making that kind of music, that much I can say.

I'm impressed by the new album. He started singing so much better.

But does anyone else think that the song Razorblade is oddly similar to Barry Manilow's Mandy?

I like this new sound of the Strokes better. Instrumentally, it's much more complex and heavier. But I must say that after a while, the songs become very boring. The vocal melodies are just too similar I think

But yes, "Ize of the World" is a good song.

When I heard that on the Radio 1 broadcast thing I thought that too, the melody is really similar.

Overall, I think the album is fine. I still like the first 2 better at the moment. This one may grow on me, though.

Juicebox is awesome. Blew me away when I first heard it.

I've never really liked The Strokes, either, but recently they're just starting to grow on me (well, Is This It? is, anyway). So I'll be getting it, sure.
