Haha no.

The reason you get that "power boost" as you say has to do with the cam ratio's. In this sense you are refearing to an accelerated cam design. The cam is designed so that the more you push the pedal down, the more the beater moves as it gets closer to the head (pedal gets lower).

Where as a linear cam would simply be a 1:1 ratio of movement throughout the entire stroke of the pedal

DirectDrive's can be design in such a way as to have an accelerated caming motion, though I believe that all the current ones on the market are pretty linear. The BOA may not be, it looks like it has a bit of an over center pivot point in the motion.

actually Phil i wasnt refering to the cam. what im trying to say has todo with the direct attatchment to the pedal plate, and the way that direct drives "return" to the normal possition after a hit. but the words to explain it eludes me.

id like to hear someones explaination tho
