Alternative Press

I haven't seen a thread about the magazine yet so here it is.

This is the thread whre you can talk about AP magazine's articles thay they have on bands and what they rate different albums, or anything else about them. Feel free to say whatever you think of their opinions and the mag. itself.

I thought that their poll this month about Myspace was pretty stupid.
In the Co & Ca article it shortly explains part of each of the songs on their new record. That's how I found out about the hidden Led Zep. cover of Bron Yr.

Yeah they're pretty bad. Best article they ever had was the oral history of Slint.

I don't think I've ever read a music magazine. I'm too indie for that.

haha...

The AP is on the same level as MTV or the TV Guide channel in terms of credibility, especially for their hyped bands and reviews. Their latest issue with the oral history of The Promise Ring wasn't too bad, but pretty pictures can't hide ugly words, or something.

I admit they aren't my favorite magazine, I like AMP or Metal Hammer a hell of a lot better, but I just bought this AP issue yesterday so that's why I chose it.

And the layout is so terrible...along with the majority of their featured bands.

my sister used to subscribe to them. They seemed very into punk and emo, but they had a decent Dredg interview a few months back.

Theyre an allright magazine. I usually buy it for things such as bands oral histories and articles like that (since they make all of the bands featured seem like he best band ever). Its mostly just crappy scene bands anyways.

They do interviews of bands that they make seem good, but end up rating the band's album a 1 or 2/5. It happened again in the new issue with The (International) Noise Conspiracy.
