Alt rock guitarist

Can anyone tell me of any alternative rock bands with really exeptional guitarists? Or songs with good guitar work/ guitar solos.

Word.

+ Dinosaur Jr

Edit: Speaking of Meat Puppets, I've just started to realize how much they kick ***. I got the 'Alive in the 90s' DVD for like 5 bux it's pretty cool. Got some nice Watt action on it.

I dunno if you count the whole "grunge" thing as alternative but it is often mentioned in this forum. If you do I guess Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Mudhoney have some good guitaring.

Dinosaur Jr seems the most obvious one people have said, Smashing Pumpkins also have some awesome lead play.

Depends On what you class as alternative but Muse and Arctic Monkeys are good for guitar I'd say
