Power chords
Distortion Throw some octaves in if you want Whenever I want to get inspired musically, I just listen to music and skate or something else that will take my mind off everything. I don't just listen to hardcore, because sometimes it'll be a certain rythm or chord in anything that will get my brain working. Lyrically, I just think about whatever it is that I want to write the song about and just write down everything I want to say, just stream on conciousness, then I hammer that into lyrics. |

i just find a chord I likt to start and then I **** around with it until its sounds cool. Also you can kinda copy ideas if how to structure it from other bands but dont make it obvious thats what you did

Use variations of chords, instead of E [222---] change it to [212---] (in drop D) etc. so it doesn't sound so bland. |

yeah whats a writers block?
im also starting a band with my brother and a few of my friends its gonna be pretty good we're playing hardcore/emo and maybe a few softy songs just to even out the mix. Inspirations are Day of contempt, Atreyu, Throwdown, Stuffs like thats. any help would be gladly accepted. Eh for chords dont need to use actual chords just variate with power chords for a heavier soound and maybe just play strings 4, 5 and 6 together on different frets not a bad sound your getting but just detail me on what sound you want and ill give you some pointers. |

When I write my own music I have to stop listening to other music.

I maintain my theory that if song writting doesn't come naturally to you, don't push it.
