Old Country
Who likes old country? like Hank Williams, Conway Twitty, Lorretta Lynn, Emmy Lou Harris, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard ect. Not this modern country, like Keith Urban or whatever. Thats just bad 80's rock'n roll.

I like Johnny Cash the most out of those. I'm not a big country fan, but I definently prefer older country to today's country.

I only listen to Johnny Cash and he rules, so it's in the cards for me to check out a lot of other old county artists.

The only country musician I listen to is Johnny Cash. I've tried to get into others liek Hank Williams, but I just can't see what the appeal is.

I'm definitely into it. I've been a Johnny Cash fan for a few years, and I'm starting to get into guys like Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson too.

Me too
Anyone heard 'Pop Country Really Sucks' by Hank Williams III (grandson of)? Funny as hell, a tribute to the old guys. The Lyrics: "Well some say I'm not country and that's just fine with me 'Cause I don't wanna be country with some large bundle of sticks looking over at me They say that I'm ill-mannered that I'm gonna self-destruct But if you know what I'm thinkin' you'll know that pop country really sucks So I'm here to put the "dick" in Dixie and the "****" back in country 'Cause the kind of country I hear now days is a bunch of ****in' **** to me They say that I'm ill-mannered that I'm gonna self-destruct But if you know what I'm thinkin' you'll know that pop country really sucks Well we're losing all the outlaws that had to stand their ground and they're being replaced by these kids from a manufactured town And they don't have no idea about sorrow and woe 'Cause they're all just too **** busy kissin' *** on Music Row So I'm here to put the "dick" in Dixie and the "****" back in country 'Cause the kind of country I hear nowdays is a bunch of ****in' **** to me And they say that I'm ill-mannered that I'm gonna self-destruct But if you know what I'm thinkin' you'll know that pop country really sucks And if you know what I'm thinkin' you'll know that pop country really sucks" |

I've got some Hank Williams and Johnny Cash tracks on my computer and like them. Haven't really heard any of the others though.

I listen to Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, etc.. Anyone heard Cash, Nelson, Jennings, and Kristofferson songs like highway man? That song is sweet. They also did other songs when they had that group thingy going. Johnny Cash is definetely the best of them all imo. There's a movie coming out about his life and such which should be interesting.

I listen to alot of country-influenced rock, so I should try to get into older country, but I've only heard Cash. It's not the easiest genre of music to find at a local record store, and I have no idea were to start. One day I'll get around to it. Lately I've been in a folk/country/rootsy mood.
