The CunninLynguists' collection kind of bums me out because it seems appearant they are getting closer to the generic southern hip-hop of today. Will Rap For Food is so unique in it's approach and then A Piece Of Strange is only a couple steps ahead of generic southern rap.
If you ask me, A Piece Of Strange is a lot better than anything that came from the south this year. It's actually one of my favourite albums of this year, especially because of the production, which is awesome imo.

Has anyone heard Mos Def's new album Tru3 Magic? I've been hearing it's pretty boring, even when compared to The New Danger, which already was rather uneven.

I agree it's a lot better, but you can tell they are pushing towards the generic brand of southern hip-hop with songs like "Nothing To Give", "Caved In", and "Beautiful Girl". I like all the songs on the album except the one with Cee-Lo, he needs to quit.

I'm listening to Hell Hath No Fury another time in the hope that it will jump out at me as something incredible. But i doubt it.

Also, Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version may be one of my favorite hip hop albums ever. ODB was so fuckin ramshackle. I love him.

R.A. The Rugged Man's verse on "Uncommon Valor: A Vietnam Story" is ridiculous. I don't think he breathes once.

Dre's new album, Detox, of course. After that, Ase Rock's new album will probably be good. Dangerdoom 2 should atleast have some good beats (Mouse really needs to find a real MC for one of these projects). Rakim's new release may be interesting, but not that excited it'll be good.

Downloaded a leak for Hiphop Is Dead. Listening right now, first song was good, second song is decent, third song is pretty good as well. This might just be better than Street's Disciple, at least I hope so.

I listened to the first four songs and was like ehhhhhhh..... then i switched back to Clipse.

Mos Def's solo records were never very good. Though he did some great stuff with Talib Kweli of course.

Anyone dig Ready to Die (Notorious BIG)? I bought it yesterday and I have to say, I'm very impressed.
