Ditch Recommended?
With the new addition of the similar artists/albums feature on sputnik, in which adding bands/albums to your favorites list determines the recommended bands, should the old system of manually recommending albums/bands be removed? Or if not removed, should it be changed? The feature as of now is rarely used and unwieldy. Previous suggestions would require a ton of programming to fix a feature almost nobody uses. Just wondering what the general concensus was.
Alternately, I was thinking of a way where you could reference other albums and bands in your review, and have the code automatically turn them into links to the corresponding albums and/or bands. This might take awhile though. |

When I first saw the new feature, I thought it was based on the user ratings (people who rated OK Computer highly also rated.....), which would be awesome. But, I imagine, pretty hard to code.
But yeah, I don't think anyone would really miss the old system. |

Yeah, I think you shold take it out. If the user wants to put recommended albums, they can put the link in to what albums they are suggesting.

I'd say yes. I think people can be much easier motivated to tune their playlist/favorite artists then completely work through the whole list of albums and bands to pick five from there. Yeah, ditch it.
![]() The link and reference parser sounds great. Though if one really wants it now, one could do it with the [url] vB-Code. That maybe is a bit to "up there" for some, so it's not widely used. |
