The Flaming Lips
Holy cow I love this band. Probably the only alt/indie band I like but from what I know they've got a high rep in the alt/indie world. I figure you all know them but for those of you who don't I'll give you the brief description.
Amazing alternative band from Oklahoma City the Flaming Lips consist of Wayne Coyle, Mark Coyle, Richard English and Michael Ivins. Basically they're a big mix between acoustic guitar and electronica stuff. I'm not even really sure what's going on most of the time, I'm just enjoying myself too much to really listen to what the band is playing. Short story short, they're amazing and I love them. Yoshimi was a great recording period for them. Ego Tripping is still my favorite song they've done. It has been since I first heard it when the album came out. I'm really excited to hear the new album.

Yoshimi is indeed an awesome album from an awesome band. And I giggle to myself whenver I hear Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots pt. 2. It's just so ridiculous!

I got Clouds Taste Metallic recently, so I'm starting to get into that, though I still love The Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi. This Here Giraffe rocks my world.
I would love to see them live, I hope they tour in the UK with the new album. That'd be awesome. |

I saw them live when they were touring with Beck. The Flaming Lips opening for Beck is one of the greatest things the music industry has ever produced. Such a great show, one of the happiest experiences of my life.

The Lip's are indeed a great band. I've got Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots and Transmissions from the Sattelite Heart, they're both two awsome albums. The Yoshimi album is a mixture of acoustic guitar and electronica (as mentioned by ThievesandBastards) while Transmissions is a bit more poppier rock with a few traces of electronica.

I recently got "Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots" and... it's undescribably beautiful, happy and sometimes hysterical. I love In The Morning of Magicians by a gigantic heart.
