Oh nice

I just hope the characters aren't too romanticised, I liked that they were kind of annoying in the book.

Prisoners

powerful film making imo. well written, acted, and directed. the ending is typical "hollywood twist" but its a pretty solid twist nonetheless.

dumb car "chase" sort of thing at the end. guess the director had to show his stuff for upcoming work

8.5/10

Captain America the Winter Soldier. I thought this was the best Marvel film yet

The Lords of Salem. Rob Zombie must have been whacked out of his mind when he made this one

Saw A Long Way Down last week.

The actors were all very good but the whole deadpan spirit of the book was entirely lacking and instead they'd gone for a corny feelgood movie.

But it even failed at that. I cringed at most of the lines and the jokes were forced and not funny

To exemplify, they fabricated a romance between two of the characters which wasn't even slightly implied in the book, basically it was a pathetic substitute for the film having real substance.

Good points: Poots's performance mourning her sister was powerful enough to make me cry for real so you know, good job.

3/10

Master of Horror: Dance of the Dead

Actually, the first premise I've ended up enjoying in this terrible series. The execution and production were still shit, along with the plot, but the potential for what it could be is great. There's a good dehumanizing aspect you can get from this you don't get from torture-porn, or the schlocky dribble this makes of it.

Midnight Meat Train

Not as campy as it sounds, and surprising, for me at least. It's a solid drama with an interesting premise, for the slasher genre. The fact that this goes on in such a public place yet is kept secret is its genius. However, the ending ruins it for me. I know it's based on a Clive Barker book, but does it have to be so "Clive Barker" all the damn time? Some times people get in the way of themselves.

Black Christmas (1974)

Almost feels like a remake with how crass it is, but the fact that it is from the 70s redeems it.

Heathers

Same as above. From the 80s, but, if not for the looks, seems written by Juno-scribe Diablo Cody, herself, except not annoying.

A pleasant outing, this bunch.

↑↑↑ hahaha! Yeah it was freaky at a young age!

Nice guitared chuck, you are creeping me out with our similar tastes. Also, Altered States was very good. I did find something out today about one of my favorite directors, Alejandro Jodorowsky. Apparently, he was working on a Dune project in the mid 70's and it was supposed to be the most legendary masterpiece of a science fiction film the world had seen. He had so much talent, Orsen Wells, Salvador Dali, David Carradine, Mick Jagger. H.R. Giger had like over a thousand original drawings/character models just for the film. Also, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd and Magma were supposed to do original music for the film. It didn't get funded and was never made, sadly. There is a documentary that just came out about it called "Jodorowsky's Dune" and if I have to drive 4 hours to see it, so be it. After finding this out today, I got really excited and bought 3 Dune books on eBay xD
