I'd give it a 7/10.
I did like After Earth a lot, but I'm used to Will Smith movies being very satisfying; like,"he left room for a sequel," or," he ended that movie very satisfactorily." It was missing. That's just me though. :-)

4/5

Beautiful film on all accounts but

SEMI SPOILER

while I don't have any real negative feelings towards Sandra Bullock, I don't think she's a strong enough actress to carry a film like this and her performance at times really dragged it down.

I thought she was really good.

I'm sure there may have been "better" choices but I can't really think of any off the top of my head.

Interestingly enough I thought her more subtle moments("I had a daughter") that called for better acting were well done. It was just in the more in your face moments of panic that I think she fell short.

Jessica Chastain comes to mind as an actress who I feel would have killed it

That last overly dramatic scene in Zero Dark Thirty made me dislike Jessica Chastain

Just way too try-hard and lame

Though I could see she might have been a good choice for Gravity

the lamest part of zd30 was that scene where it was obvious they were about to get blown the fuck up but somehow none of them saw it coming

Just finished watching Airplane!.

It's very silly humour, but it's pulled off in such a deadpan way that it works really well. A few gags were a bit forced but it made me chuckle lots.
