The tapping beast... first ERB recording!

So, this is the last chapter of my ERB-adquisition-related-threads, the bass itself recorded. I promised to record something I was working on till I had it on my hands for first time. Its a double-hand-tapped song based on chordal stuff, as its suposed. Hope you enjoy it.

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/2/otherwise.htm -> music -> diving the seas of my soul

Feel free to share your opinion, Itll be nice. To give another point to the thread you could post links to songs youve recorded with 6 string basses. THX!

NOTE - It has some mistakes but well, I wanted to have it done yuesterday cause this night I go out on vacation and I wont be here for a week or so. Take care people!

I heard the first like 20 seconds, I already like it.

keep it up...I think that recording tone isn't bad at all, how did you get it?

well, I plugged my bass directly into my computer and recorded it using cooledit. It had a very nasty hiss noise so I used a hiss reduction filter that worked extremely well, not the tone is clear and focused. I also added a chorus to one of the parts as you can hear, a Cool edit preset effect, just ok. Im quite happy with the recording quality too eventhough the hiss reduction filter has make it a bit sterile.

Ive composed this in only two hours or so, and recorded it yesterday in a half hour, after just a few minutes of memorizing and practicing, cause I didnt have any more time so Im quite happy the overal result. Probably when I came back from my little holidays Ill record it again and better.

Thx for your comments mates! Im loving the new possibilities of my six string.

It almost sounds like a song for guitar bass and piano arranged for just bass, nice job.

Check your intonation in the higher frets though, something sounds a little flat.

thx, I think my high C is a bit off. Its seems the rest of the strings are ok but that string particulary is ****ty, it needs to be replaced. Ill check the intonation of all the strings when I replace them.

Im thinking on which strings to get... Im between DR Hi Beams Stainless Steel or XL Stainless piano-kind, probably 30-40-60-80-90-130, both received good reviews on the reviews section so I dunno, any comment about it people?

Ah, I didn't mean it too sharp. But work on your left hand. It sounded like you mainly played scales up and down. Play with your left hand as you normally would play fingerstyle. It can be hard to learn, but it's worth it.

yeah I took it that way, no problem, I knew is was advice.

The song was deeply based on chords, so as all my double-hand-tapping stuff. So, yeah, mainly scales and that things, its not that hard and sounds well so I decided that would be my main soloing technique. Its quite Myung-ish, who is basically my main tutor in progressive bass techniques.

Anyway Ill work on it, its a very valuable skill. Ive just learn to play polyrythms like Maya solo by JR Olsen band and that stuff but my left hand needs more practice. The new neck, soooo wide, makes it a bit harder but its so nice to tap.

Ill show you my progresses in the future

I really like the tone. It's very pianoish, which is what you wanted. Good job indeed.

cool song The chorus pedal sounds really good, and fits in the song well. You have inspired me to improve my tapping skills thanks!
