hello!

howdy. i was just checking in with all you folks. its been a while. but i'm doing cool things. and this forum and these lyrical challenges were my poetic roots, so to speak, in that i got my start in creative writing from some of the earlier challenges here (amongst other places). i was horrible, but i've been writing a long time now, and changed in a plethora of ways.

anyway, a week from now i'll be attending the governor's school for the arts and by the time i graduate from the summer program, i'll have performed some of my poetry (maybe spoken word with some avant-garde / jazz accompaniment?) in front of a pretty big audience (hundreds or so) , taken master classes under some pretty big published poets and authors, and assembled and possibly published a chapbook / first collection.

its a pretty big deal, and my finishing it will result in some good opportunities at some neat artsy/writing oriented universities and etc. i've already been published in a few different artsy mags, all over the place. so that's cool.

here's my myspace, if you dont know me and would like to see what i'm about. http://myspace.com/joshmay

so yeah, talk to me! how are you all doing? i hope all is well. i'm happy that i'm going somewhere doing what i love.

and i'm making lots of the music on the side. these days i'm biggest into sludge/stoner metal, prog rock, and old-time appalachian music. i attend and even help organize some house shows around the area, helping touring bands and the like.

for a sample of some recent poetry, here are a couple of links. comment on what you read if you'd like, i'd love to know what you think.

Hey Josh. I don't know if I told you about Dean Young but he's a sweet poet. Look up some of his stuff online. I know the poem "Centrifuge" is all over the place. If you want go to amazon.com and "look inside this book" and read some stuff.

congrats man.. I hope everything works out for you..

What magazines have you been published in?
I always hear about these "literary magazines" and such, but never actually hear the names or how to get stuff published...can you answer those questions for me?
