Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi USA

Big Muff Pi (USA)

The big muff pi is a famous distortion pedal, well its not really a distortion pedal, it is more of a fuzz and sustain pedal. It was made famous by hendrix and the beattles, using it for its range of light fuzz, to all out harmonical wall of pain. Though the pedal was designed for guitar, Numerous people began to use it with the bass guitar, recently Chris Wolstenhome of Muse, Who actualy uses two in a chain. With bass it provides some pleasing results. By adjusting the tone and sustain nobs, you can go from thick muted light fuzz, to a screaming feadbacking wall of fuzz where low notes start to lose defenition. Edging up the volume control on the pedal causes some series distruction. Its a fun pedal, but not useful for much, infact i prefer to use my BP200 for distortion, for the more control and additional sounds, the BP200 does a good job of modeling the Muff, but it isnt nearly as good. The Big Muff fits into that niche for when you want to get dirty and crunchy, but not Death Metal heavy. The Russian Big Muff is suposedly better, but i havent noticed much of a difference.
