It looks like it would be fun to play, but in response to your question I would say no.

hmm, I do enjoy a bit of fun but if it doesn't make for a good alternative then 'fudd' is the word

I've had one since about 1990, AND STILL CAN'T PLAY IT FOR CRAP!!!!
It's the most frustrating instrument in the world. Ten strings. Two tuning systems. Low strings in the middle. Strings go low to high in fourths like a guitar on one side. Low to high in fifths like a cello on the other. Played by touching/tapping the note you want. Less of an instrument, more of a cruel practical joke. Then I hear someone like Greg Howard play it. I mean REALLY play it. I get all inspired and try to get the hang of it again. *heavy heavy sigh* |

I would think that a pianist would probably be most able to play a Stick since that finger and hand independance is probably most developed for them. I would never manage to play something like the stick.

Yeah, but you have to learn new note placements, that could prove to be difficult.

anyway, surely there is nothing stopping me from tuning it the way I like, while they might suggest you use a certain tuning I don't see why you can't change it to something that suits you better (unless what you're playing requires a certain tuning) hmm, don't suppose you'd be willing to part with your stick? actually what model is it? pictures? ![]() |

sorry but I don't see the point you're trying to get across, if you don't like it then what are you trying to do here? change my opinion or others opinions on it?
I wouldn't expect a tapping instrument to amplify itself well hollow bodied or not hollow bodied, maybe you just expect too much from instruments like the stick |

My mate wants one, he says he missed a couople on eBay that went for 600 quid.
The sites spiel says they are an alternative to guitar/bass/keys (and drums?!?) I would be interested in playing one. I think they are mostly a replacement for piano/heavy bass tappers. |

It's rather as if you promised to give me money and when I expressed my disappointment that you gave me a mere penny you said, "You can't be disappointed: A penny is one one-hundredth of a dollar, and you can't it expect it to be anything else than one one-hundredth of a dollar." Needless to say, the stick is not a keyboard instrument and has nothing whatsoever to do with keyboard instruments: THIS THREAD D-O-E-S N-O-T B-E-L-O-N-G ON THIS FORUM. We've nevertheless very tolerantly indulged you so far, and you've treated us contemptuously. Our indulgence is now at an end. Leave. |
